Эффект денежных остатков/эффект Пигу
Влияние изменения реальной стоимости денежных остатков на изменение совокупного спроса. Если цены гибкие, их снижение обычно приводит к увеличению реальной стоимости сбережений домохозяйств. Рост сбережений способствует увеличению их покупательной способности, стимулируя потребление. Наоборот, рост цен снижает реальную стоимость сбережений и вынуждает домохозяйства сокращать свое потребление. Поскольку в период экономического спада существует реальная возможность снижения цен, эффект Пигу частично компенсирует сокращение потребления, связанного со спадом. Однако если бы эффект Пигу имел место в ситуации полной занятости, более высокий потребительский спрос нельзя было бы удовлетворить, т.к. в экономике уже были бы задействованы все ресурсы. В этом случае цены росли бы до тех пор, пока стоимость реальных денежных остатков не вернулись бы к своему исходному уровню.Новый англо-русский словарь-справочник.
